Job Title

Civil Engineer

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing professional tasks at the managerial level by supervising and overseeing the land development functions of the department. Manages the administration and enforcement of County, State and Federal codes and regulations. Work involves management of the plan review process, and the performance of all inspections for infrastructure and land development in the County. Provides general oversight of Facilities Maintenance division.

Typical Duties

Performs administrative tasks for the department; reviews and provides input regarding rezoning applications; approves final plats for conformance with construction standards; performs interpretation and implementation of ordinances; reviews existing ordinances, including the Standard Construction Specifications, and prepares recommendations for updates; approves grading permits and Development Permits.
Assists with reviewing plans and hydrology studies for conformance with local, state and federal regulations,
Performs technical tasks to support a variety of department functions; conducts site reviews to ensure compliance with design plans; oversees the filing of all required county and state engineering reports. Coordinates the preparation and submittal of the annual NPDES storm water report to EPD.

Qualifications/Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field with six years of experience in engineering design and construction management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Professional Engineer License in the State of Georgia is preferred.

Job Title

Administrative Assistant

Position Summary

Ware County Board of Commission is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant. This position reports to the Sr. Accounting Supervisor.

Typical Duties

  • Maintain day to day Accounts Receivable/ Accounts Payable activities including billing, cash management, and collection.
  • Assist managing the monthly close process and all related tasks.
  • Monthly Financial Reporting
  • Reconciliations of accounts receivable, cash, Accounts Payable.
  • Daily bank reporting.
  • Assist with annual audit.
  • Assist in development and adherence to internal controls.
  • Backup to the Accounts Payable/ Payroll.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Other Responsibilities include answering an automated telephone system; sorting and distributing mail, and other general office duties as needed.
  • Writes receipts for monies received in the office.
  • Balances cash received against receipt books; prepares bank deposits.
  • Greets the public, answers the telephone, takes messages, and provides general information to visitors and callers as requested.
  • Picks up mail from the post office; delivers packages to the post office for mailing and prepares mail to go out each day.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED required from an accredited school.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of modern office procedures.
  • Skill in basic bookkeeping.
  • Skill in operating such modern office equipment as a computer, typewriter, calculator, facsimile machine, copier, and multi-line telephone.
  • Skill in oral and written communication and interpersonal relations.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be well organized and a self-starter, work independently and be detail oriented.
  • Provide professionalism when working with citizens, vendors, and employees.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills, strong problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Associates Degree.
  • One (1) year of Accounting.

Deputy Clerk of Superior Court

Position Summary

Position prepares cases, subpoenas, and notices for court. Must have the ability to meet and work well in a courtroom setting as well as the public.

Qualifications/Skills

The position requires general office skills, computer knowledge of Word and Excel. Successful candidate must complete medical exam, drug testing and background check. Must be 18 years or older, have no criminal record, and possess a high school diploma or GED.

Job Title

Detention Officer - Ware County Jail

Position Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining a secure detention facility and the safe custody of inmates. The Detention Officer performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks associated with facility operations and the incarceration of detainees.
